It's All About ME

RSHS Class of 1984

It was never too sunny or too rainy, too hot or too cold, too late or too early because anytime was the right time for band practice during the 1981-82 school year, and we loved it!

Private Eyes Are Watching You

You didn't even think about wiping that drop of sweat from your brow, swatting the bee crawling on your cheek, or anything else after being called to attention by Drum Major Jimmy Pearce.

'Um, Excuse Me... Mr. Butch, Sir... Has anyone ever mentioned how heavy this thing is?'

-David Tumey

Butch Farrah

The drum line instructor, and former Marching Raider demonstrates a section of the music to William Roberts while Tommy Dawkins, ? (cymbals), Johnny King, Kerry Blevins, and ? (bass) stand at attention.

The Heat of the Day

Clarinet players Veronica Allison , Amy Bellamy (partially hidden), and a slightly less than enthusiastic Donna Tuttle take five. No matter how hard we worked, it was always fun! Well, maybe it didn't always seem like fun at the time, but it was certainly worth every minute we put into it!

Mellowphones Rule Baby!

If you don't believe me, just ask Weston Fulp, Kyle Garris, or, Kent Fields... Wait until they finish practicing though, ok?

Even The Mighty Marching Raiders Need The Occassional Break!

Raider football players practice in the background while Steve Sheldon, Wanda Richardson (facing away), Donna Harris, Tammy Watkins, Dena West, Lisa Tumey, David McRae, and Scott Lewis take a much needed time out during an all day practice.

The Sheik and The Cowboy

Senior Kenny Spruill is smiling because he knows

which number all this hard work will lead the band towards.

The End Of A Long Hard Practice Session

Despite the hard work, the band is still in high spirits, even though each members knows that in a few short minutes, there will be even more practice.

Sophomore Lisa Tumey is afraid that she won't have enough time, so she tries eating and drinking at the same time in order to be more efficient.

Load'em Up... Move'em Out

The loading and unloading of the band truck was very important to everyone, but especially to those in the drum line, bass line, and anyone else with an oversized instrument.

Before And After Practice
Hanging around the band truck was the way to hang out with the cool, older kids like Benny Putnam (partially hidden), Kim Munn, and Pam Reynolds.
