Raider Pep Rallies Are Serious Business! The vast majority of pep rallies, like this one, took place in the gymnasium. Here Jeff Bullard plays his solo from the Marching Raiders' musical program.

Ok, Pep Rallies Don't Have To Be SeriousAccording to statistics gathered during the taking of this picture was taken, half of the students attending these so called pep rallies do so with their eyes closed, twenty-five percent have their eyes squinted, while only one out of every four appear to have their eyes wide open.

Wind EnsembleThis is the photo of the Concert Band from the 1983 Treasure Chest. All band pictures were taken that same day, within a few minutes of each other, so those in Marching Raider attire didn't have time to change between pictures. To be honest, most were glad for the opportunity to suit up again (some for their final time). All those photos were taken on the football team's practice field (the one above ours) from the top of a school bus, parked in the end zone.

One Group of ManyThere were lots of different band pictures taken this day. Pictures of the Marching Raiders, different classroom bands, and groups from within each band had their pictures taken. Now, I was in quite a few of those pictures, so why did I single out this photo of the Concert Band to add here? Good Question!

In every group there are a few who stand out, and this group of photo subjects was to be no different. I remember a suggestion being made, and I remember the person's justification. They said, "it's our senior year and our last band picture, so we need to do something we'll always remember when we look back at this." The suggestion was unique, the idea was completely memorable, and best of all, this memory could be achieved without ruining the picture for anyone and without getting us suspended! Thus the deal, between friends was struck! Immediately afterwards, the two friends recruited another to join their crusade to create a high school memory that could never be forgotten!
The zoomed image above isn't clear, but the smiles are! My friend Jeff Bullard had convinced me, and we managed to convince junior Mike Yates to drop his pants to his ankles with us while this photograph was being setup and taken! Yep, you've read it correctly. For this photo, Mike, Jeff, and Ronnie had their pants down around their ankles!
The circles drawn around faces indicate those who are smiling due to the memory making moment; Three, Mike, Ronnie, and Jeff, are smiling because they feel a cool winter breeze, and just a bit of infamy. The others are smiling because they've seen how that breeze gained access. The only person, behind us, who wasn't smiling, was the guy at the top/center of the photo. He was obviously unimpressed with boxer, brief, and even commando style.
