Welcome To The Raiders' 1987 Marching Season
This year's Marching Raiders welcomed their new
director, Dan Sturdivant who, after the past seven years as Union
County's Band Director, has honed his craft both in the classroom and on the
field.
During this season Drum Majors Sara West and David Gibson received
three first place trophies, the horn and drum lines each received two trophies,
and the band received a Superior rating at three separate competitions.
The highlight of the marching season was winning the Spirit of Albemarle
Award at the Albemarle Band Day. *click on images

Half-Time Is Coming Up
For Tyrone Liles (front), Jamie
Gomiller (rear), and their fellow Raiders that means it's time
to leave the stands and head to the infield for the warm up.

Low Brass Rules Just ask Robbie King
and his fellow baritones. The trombone and tuba players will gladly
back them up. |

Gray Hawks
commented on his time with the Marching Raiders for the
Treasure Chest staff saying, "I had to give
up a lot of time to be in marching band these past three years, but it was time
well spent, I'll miss it."

The Raider Band is as much a standard feature of
our Homecoming Pep Rallies as sunglasses are a standard feature of cool
marchers.
